Greetings,

Welcome to the May 10 edition of the Thursday Update!

We have recently begun a marketing campaign with the Web site:Groupon. This is a site that allows members to purchase products or services at great discount. Groupon is free to join. Members pay Groupon up front and then bring their groupon into the Club to redeem. One of the best aspects of this partnership is we get paid whether people use the groupons or not. Groupon makes their money as a percentage of the money collected during the promotional period. This is another way we’re looking to drive traffic and increase revenue for 2012.

We have already begun to see an increase in play from Groupon members during public play hours. You may have seen some on the course! This is a great source of revenue, so please be patient with some golfers that may be more accurate to our published 1:45 pace of play. If you know anyone who would like the deal, send them to our deal Web page. The deal closes tonight!

Mother’s Day Brunch Sunday, May 13

Memorial Day Monday, May 28

Remember: the Memorial Day golf outing has been moved to Monday, May 28 this year. The tournament committee felt this would allow more golfers to participate. Golf begins at 9 a.m. This event is open to all golfing members and social members who have purchased the $100 golf add-on.

Welcome to the August 2011 BGCC Newsletter.

We’re halfway through the golfing season, but there’s plenty more golf ahead! Check our Web site (BGCountryClub.com) for all our event details. More is added every day. You can also sign up for the email version of this newsletter, if you haven’t already.

The Club also has a Facebook page. You can find it at Facebook.com/bgcountryclub. Events are posted, you can comment on the wall and also share stories, photos and more with your Facebook friends and friends of the Club.

Finally, congratulations to Dick Henrion for shooting a hole-in-one on July 21. He used his seven iron to bounce one into the cup on #11.

From the President, Gary Hartzler

Because of the U.S. Senior Open at Inverness the weekend of July 30-31, the Men’s Club Championship is being moved to coincide with the Women’s Club Championship. BOTH tournaments will take place over the weekend of August 6-7 with the same formats from previous years. Given the low turnout of these events in recent years, there should be plenty of tee times to go around.

Word from Stone Ridge has it that there have been some theft problems recently. Golfers have gone in for a snack or drink at the turn, leaving their clubs on the cart. On three occasions, the carts were missing on return. The carts were found in the parking lot with the clubs missing. It’s more difficult to do here, but it is a possibility, so please be aware of your belongings. The Club staff has been alerted and we will do our best, but in this world, anything is possible, so please be aware.

Finally, the Club is now an official lottery retailer. Keno will be running every day. You can also purchase MegaMillions, Powerball, Classic Lotto or any other, non-scratch-off ticket here. We are also able to cash modest winnings. Please remember: this is a country club, and as such the food and beverages will come first. Please be patient with servers who are often doing multiple things at once. They will help your lotto wants as they’re able. We will be receiving an automatic ticket selling machine at a future date (as of yet unknown). This should help streamline the process as well. Any questions about the lotto should be addressed to Bryan Stanbridge or a board member.

Social Committee, Betty Birr

Join us for the Hog Roast and Hawaiian Luau on Saturday, August 13. Mike Shuey will be roasting the hog. Full details are later in the newsletter.

Fairway Grill, Jeff Szabo

It’s hard to believe it’s bulletin time again. Seems like I just wrote July’s article. It’s amazing how fast the summer months fly by. Hope everyone is enjoying their time on the course and in the clubhouse.

While we are on the subject of enjoyment, you will want to mark your calendar for Saturday, August 13. We will be having the annual hog roast and golf scramble. This is one of the largest events of the year and is open to all members and guests. You do not have to golf to enjoy the buffet. Please make reservations in the lounge if you will be joining us for dinner but not golfing.
